education & training

I graduated with a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Wilfrid Laurier University in June 2019. The focus for our cohort was on a blend of macro- and micro- social work. This is where I was introduced to critical social work theory, a huge influence on my approach.

I graduated with a Master of Arts (MA) from Concordia University in November 2008. This is a degree in the History and Philosophy of Religion. The focus of the research for my thesis was seasonal camping communities in Dawson City, Yukon – an exploration of myth, narrative, ritual, and colonialism in contemporary settler Canadian context.

Modality-wise for psychotherapy, I have training in Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), CBT-I (for insomnia), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), grief counselling, many methods and theories of couples and family therapies, and betrayal trauma counselling.

I am also informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), applications of attachment theory, the power of narrative, Mindful Self-Compassion, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), feminist theories, queer theory, critical social work theories, anti-oppressive practice frameworks, and a commitment to de-colonizing therapeutic practice.
